Lizz 生长於Hahira 的一个小镇Georgia，自小的音乐训练受到在教堂当琴师的父亲的影响，早期唱讚美诗 (hymns)，后来爵士乐和蓝调 (Blues) 进入她的音乐生命，高中时在各种歌唱比赛中获奖无数，2000年她加盟Atlanta城的四人合唱团 In the Spirit ，转眼间走红成为Atlanta 城最佳爵士乐组合。Verve 的总裁Tommy LiPuma是著名的伯乐，Diana Krall 和Natalie Cole 是他一手栽培成名的歌手，今次与Brian Blade, Jon Cowherd等共同监製此唱片，阵容鼎盛。
